A battle damaged F?80 jet fighter rests in a rice paddy in South Korea, after making an emergency wheels?up landing. A burst of flak knocked out the plane's hydraulic system, preventing the lowering of the landing gear. The pilot was uninjured, and immediately boarded a transport airplane to return to his home base in Japan. The Korean farmer, working in the paddy when this picture was taken, appeared much more interested in the photographer's camera than in the airplane which had slid down the length of his flooded paddy. |
